For a plane journey from Newark Liberty International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport
, I recommend :

Sitting on the left, I get a terrific sunrise image of NYC, a beautiful shot of Meteor Crater near Flagstaff, and some less-exciting freeway shots of Los Angeles. My key trick: stabilize the camera in your hand, not leaned up against the window or aircraft structure, which vibrates.
